So it has been over a week since I last posted. Not very discipled at all this I know. Not much has been happening I don't think. Last weekend I went through to Oban to watch the Glen win the Macauly Cup for the first time in 127 years! It was an amazing day and the team played outstandingly.
On the way back I got leathered by a can of cider. Bust open a nice gash on my chin which lead to me now sporting a very dashing plaster on my face. It reminds me of when Charlie/Hank gets his chin re-modelled in Me, Myself and Irene.

Last night around midnight I started to feel like I was coming down with something. I couldn't sleep. I was hot and cold at the same time, my head was pounding and my throat felt like it was as wide as a needle. After a difficult few hours at work I had to bail. I wasn't being productive and just felt like hell.

A few Anadins, a litre of OJ and gallons of water seems to have done the trick. For now anyway. See how I am tomorrow.

My boys from Ed are visiting me this weekend. It is games weekend which is a big deal in Drum. It is going to be so wrong, but so right.

Anyway, I will try get back into the swing of things with this again.

Wake up, work out, wash, walk to work and over and over and over and over.
Can't decide if I like having a structure to my life or not. Regardless, it will all change when Uni comes around. Not by much, but it will.

Starting to feel good physically though. I have lost a bit of weight that was annoying me and it has been as a result of very little. But everyday. Dumbbells, a few sit-ups and push ups and thats about it. Little by little it starts to make a difference.

I started watching the U.S Office a wee while ago and I have to say, I think I rate it even higher than the British version. The original I might add. It is definitely due to the Character of Jim and his relationship with Dwight. So, in the other universe it would be Gareth and Tim. I feel they are just stronger characters and then when they interact, it's TV gold.

First day back at work after my days off. On saturday I had a lunch date with the Ol'dear. Burgers and cider in the sun. Those little moments in life are precious. I then went and watched the Glen win the Shinty. Spent the next few hours with Kirst, her folks and my Mum. BBQ and more cider in the sun.

I found out that a friend of mine passed away after a hard battle with cancer. Very sad news that has shook those that knew him, but also a relief to know he isn't suffering. Rest in Peace Graham and love to Quita and all the family.

Sunday brought more of the same. Went for a roast down at the Benleva which was fabulous as always. Accompanied by a pint of Piper's Gold. Braw.

Work today was pretty tame compared to the last couple of weeks. Which was a nice change. One that we all welcomed.

The feeling of walking home after a weeks work and knowing its time to relax for 2 days has to be one of the greatest feelings ever.
Another busy night at work but that is simply just the way it is. It is hard to plaster a smile on and stay polite when it gets to closing time but it has to be done. I remember when I first started working out front and being physically disgusted if someone wanted one last drink after I called last orders and I though it would benefit me somehow if I made it clear I was annoyed. But I got over that. You have to. A business won't run if the extra mile isn't taken and reputations are tarnished because of unfriendly staff. We just grind our teeth and let it be. An extra 10mins won't kill me so let them enjoy their pint in peace and guilt free.

I have started watching The U.S Office and I have to say, it is going blow for blow with the British version. Hilarious. After this I will probably watch some more.

Tomorrow I think I will pop into work and have some lunch. Sad, I know, but its hard to deny honest, no bull shit food. That simply fills an empty stomach yet tastes good too. That, to me, is what is so appealing about Fiddler's.

Bought their album today and I really hope it is as good as this track.

So already I am struggling to carry on with this Blog when there isn't any sort of structure holding it together. I don't want to just talk about all the fluff that happens to me day in and day out. But then again, I don't actually care because it isn't about pleasing everyone else. I just sometimes wish that I had more to give than this drivel.

Anyway, tonight at work I pulled a pint for Adam Herz. For those that don't know, in 1998 he wrote a script during a winter break. It was about his time at college. He went on to sell the script for over half a million dollars and it was turned into what we know today as "American Pie".
Pretty crazy.

I would like to write a script of some sorts. I have done to a certain extent and really enjoyed it. Hmm,

Today's song is from an amazing band called LAU. They are Edinburgh born and are arguably one of the Best Live acts in the country. If I had to give them a genre it would be Folk but they are more than your average folk band. Amazing music for a spot of some ceilidh dancing or just in the background with a few beers.

Alas, I have returned from my fantastic trip down the road. After I posted my last post I went and seen a show on my own. I'm cool like that. I then met up with Mike and he took me back to his place for some Fifa, pizza and beer. Top notch. We got ready and headed out to meet a squad of our mates. We had a pretty decent night. Got to a comfortable drunk stage so we left. Sunday came and we sat and watched the highly anticipated Murray match. He took the gold with a sterling performance. Well deserved. We then headed out and hit up some more fringe venues. Such a good vibe in Edinburgh through August. The city is a fairly organised muddle during the fringe. All the bars and pubs are open till 5 which means loads of drinking and getting the craic. The boys and I grabbed a few beers and headed for a comedy tent which was holding a late night show. I wish I could remember the dudes name but I can't. All I can say is, it has been a while since I laughed so hard. After that we just hit up different bars dotted around the area and decided to call it a night once last orders were shouted at around 5am.

So, after getting in at 6am. I had a short and sweet nap until 9am. I left my mates flat around 10am and got to Edinburgh bus station in time. I stuck on my iPod and had a nice journey. The weather perked up too which lifted the bad weather blues.

Back in Drum by 3ish then off to work at 5:30pm. Beautiful.

So I have travelled down to the big smoke for my couple of days off. Currently I am sitting in The Black Cat bar. Which is without a doubt, my favourite bar in Edinburgh. With a fine selection of bottled beers, nice ales on tap and of coarse, around 200 malt whiskies. My first order at the bar consisted of a Kilchoman Machir Bay. Kilchoman being my favourite distillery at this present time. A beautiful balance of Light smoke and oats make this maybe one of my favourite drams of all time.
I am at a loss however. All my pals are either busy or working so I am having to enjoy my dram on my own. Which I am fine with but it would be nice to have a bit of company.

I am already spying the Jarl on tap which I think will be a perfect chaser to my whisky. And now I have already spied a follow up to my pint. A nice dram of Benriach Horizons and then after that I move onto the Bowmore 1990 Sherry Cask.
I am excited. It is so refreshing to have not only a bar that serves decent whisky, but also knowledgeable and friendly staff. So I bought the two a dram each.

This is why I love being in a city.

So another day goes by at work. All in all a bit of a stressful day. But that is how it is sometimes. I am happy to bring in a couple of days off. R&R is definitely in order. However, I feel it will be not so much Rest and Relaxation and more Roman Helmet and Rampage. Nonetheless, It isn't work so it will be good chat. As I start to think more and more about falling asleep, I think about music that once was a big part of my life and now, even though I still love them, I don't listen to them as much as I should.
So, for that reason alone my song of the day is :

Aereogramme - Hatred

By far the most under-rated band that graced the music industry. Forever and always will be my favourite band and this is just a track that I listened to recently and reminded me of how beautiful Craig's lyrics and voice were.

If you will allow a bit of rock into your life then give them a listen. I don't actually want to stop writing about them as there is so much to say and so many amazing songs to pick from. But I'll stop.

As a last side note, my friend who naps with me on occasion has started a blog too. She posted about it on her Instagram, so I presume she is ok with me mentioning it. Either way, she writes about fashion and the likes but in a more down to earth and grounded perspective. Which I think is appealing to a lot of girls. She has good taste too, otherwise I wouldn't hang out with her as much as I do.

Until the next time,
yer pal,
Joe.

So, I have decided to start this blog. How much I will post on it I am yet to decide. Might be a lot or it might be very little. I am fairly busy these days with work, but seem to end up coming online for a few hours when I get back. So why not do something that is semi-constructive?

I did try and blog a while ago and kept it up for a while but I got to the stage where I wasn't enjoying it anymore so I gave it up. Which is a shame.

I always said I would try to stick to a daily gimmick e.g. Song of the day etc. but I wasn't disciplined enough to keep it going. However, I might go for it this time. When I say "daily", I mean "when I decide to post". I want to say I will do it everyday but I would be making false promises and I don't want  to do that.

So, yeah. Lets see how it goes.
